MCT Ex - Marine & Offshore | RGSF Ex
At sea Oil rigs

RGS Ex rated cable and pipe transits are used in Ex hazardous maritime and offshore environments to minimize danger by preventing the spread of fire, water, gas chemicals and other hazardous substances.

RGSF Ex

For holes larger than the frame

RGSF Ex is a standard RGS transit with a flange that allows the frame to be welded into a hole which is slightly larger than the frame. For installations where cables are already in place, specify RGSFO Ex which has a removable end.

Ex

  • Available only as component.

Component is not intended to be used alone and requires additional consideration when incorporated into other equipment or systems for use in explosive atmospheres (refer to IEC 60079-0)

  • Ex system combined with EMC has yellow marking on the front face (see EMC instructions)

Correct and safe installations

To achieve the highest standard of safety, a cable or pipe transit must be installed correctly. As there are many different types of frame – which may be either welded, bolted or glued into position – and insert block, it is essential that installers known when to use the most appropriate installation method.

For more information, please view following instructions, videos or download manuals as PDFs.

Width of the flange: 60 mm (2.36”) wide and 10 mm (0.39”) thick.

RGSF Ex can also be installed in multiple frames.

Standard frames come in eight sizes: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8.
The internal width can be 60.5 ± 1 (Size 1,3,5,7) or 120.5 ± 1 (2,4,6,8).

Note that there can be limitations in type-approvals & certificates, making certain sizes inapplicable.

For size and weight please see tables in the MCT Online Catalogue:

General

The system consists of a frame, rubber blocks and a compression unit. The frame is welded or bolted to a Ex hazardous marine structure and packed with rubber blocks suited for each cable and pipe dimension. The compression unit is inserted to compress the rubber blocks against cables and pipes to establish a tight seal.
